We are a commercial nursery and work strictly in fruit tree propagation. This has been our business and privilege for over a century. Over the years we have also developed a wonderful following of backyard gardeners and hobbyists, and we are pleased to reserve a percentage of our inventory to fill these smaller orders. We are inspired by these growers' enthusiasm and quest for knowledge and want to do our part to support and educate this sector of our customer base. But please keep in mind that we still operate as a commercial nursery. We do not have picture tags, we are not set up to pot the trees and we do not provide USDA zones on our variety pages.

Support organic agriculture. Many seasons later, this is still the most important aspect of our association. Members help each other with information, ideas, skills, they meet up at conferences, organize events themselves, and discuss practices ranging from disease control to marketing of organic fruit. Long-time member Deirdre Birmingham gives some great examples of how our members work together in her article about Cultivating Adult Beverages.
As with most other communities, you choose the role you will play in the association. Many members stay with us to support the organic fruit-growing industry, to stay up to date with what's happening, to connect with fruit growers to find delicious and nutritious fruits nearby.
Others participate in association events by hosting field days, contributing to our newsletters, asking and answering questions on our Listserv and other communication channels.
The more active you are within the association, the more we can do for you. Opportunities are available to participate in research, to mentor others or learn from experienced growers, to connect with your own customers through articles published on our website or in our newsletter. Once we get to know who you are and what you stand for, it will be easier for us to help you reach your specific goals, whether you are trying to control a pest in your orchard, sell your products more efficiently, or apply for a grant available for those working in the field.
Website Visitors. Welcome to the OFGA website! Whether you are a fruit grower, a researcher, other industry professional, or someone else who enjoys eating delicious, nutritious fruit, we are here to help you. On our website, you can learn more about us , meet our board members , find information and other resources to help with growing and processing a variety of fruit in all kinds of conditions, and you can even find a fruit farm near you to stock your shelves and refrigerator with fruit that is good for your own health as well as the health of our planet.
Join OFGA Most of our members grow their own fruit commercially or as hobby gardeners, but you don't have to be a grower to join. Our members include researchers at universities, other industry professionals, people who work in other fields now but know that some day they would like to grow apples, plums, berries, or other fruit, and even customers who would like to stay up to date on what's happening in agriculture and know exactly where their food comes from.
Whether we were talking about specific issues in an orchard, the health of our soil and our planet, or providing the best experience for customers, members of this community were open and available to help with their knowledge and skills. The combined experience of our members is a pool of resource you won't find anywhere else.
We have people passionate about apples, others who keep adding pear trees to their orchards. Some members keep fighting the elements in open fields, others are successfully controlling temperature and moisture in high tunnels, growing berries or even trees inside.
I might not know the answer to your fruit-related questions, but we can find someone within our group who does. Donate your time, skills or money Whether you decide to become a member or not, you can support organic agriculture by donating your time, skills or money to our association. Volunteering has many health benefits through connecting with others and helping both your mind and your body stay active. If you write an article for our newsletter or host an event, the ripple effects of the connections you will make in the field can help you with your own health, career, or social life.
If you're looking to support your own health with delicious, nutritious fruit, you are in the right place! Did you know that most fruits are naturally low in fat, calories, and sodium, but provide many essential nutrients that we don't eat enough of?
Potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin C, and folic acid are just a few of these, and in some cases, organic fruit will contain twice as much of these essential nutrients as conventionally grown fruit. Check out our grower map and more information about our members to connect with someone who grows your favorite fruit locally!

Willis Orchard Company offers our customers a wide variety of sizes on many fruit trees to buy online. Most varieties of fruit trees will start as a small whip, which is only one main trunk. These are young trees that one can enjoy watching grow and then prune to a desired shape or size. These trees have actually produced fruit here at our orchard. We also carry a tree called EZ Pick. The EZ Pick trees have been aggressively pruned when younger so that the first set of branches are much lower than a normal fruit tree. This makes the fruit harvesting a much easier and more enjoyable process. See our wine grape varieties as well as our multi-budded fruit trees for sale. Planting fruit trees in your yard can completely transform a barren landscape into one teeming with birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.

This website presents a lot of information about growing fruit trees , compiled by myself, Dan Neuteboom, on the basis of 60 years in the fruit growing profession. Scroll down for an index of the material on the web pages. At this moment in time, I would like to highlight the section focusing on how to keep old trees healthy and productive. Today, more than ever before, it is well worth looking after existing older fruit trees in the garden or allotment.
As always, our nursery is centered on the rich history and future discoveries of our heirloom fruit trees.
